Moving To Financial District – The Architectural Wonderland

We all know that New York has some of the most stunning pieces of architecture in the world. Most of them are located in Brooklyn, but there are a lot of great architectural masterpieces in the Financial District as well. For starters, The World Trade memorials and the Freedom Tower are fantastic examples of architecture and design. They are truly one of the most prominent architectural wonders that the Big Apple has to offer. Of course, this list would be incomplete without mentioning the all-famous Wall Street.

This district features mind-blowing architecture in every direction. If you love the new-age architecture and you like the modern feeling that this part of the city is vibing with then you should start searching for your new home address.

FiDi offers a great culinary experience

This area is also known for its amazing food offer. You can be sure you will have a lot of wonderful dining experiences with a variety of restaurants and eating outlets you’ll find here. I must mention the great Delmonico’s, an iconic restaurant, and the historical pride of New York that was best known for serving Charles Dickens, Theodore Roosevelt, and Mark Twain. A lot of restaurants here will show you the best of the Italian fine dining scene.

If you are a fan of Japanese cuisine the best place for you to look out for is Nobu. The famous cobblestone Stone Street is here to blow your mind with its energetic dining experience. Here you will see a lot of restaurants with picnic tables, umbrellas, and old charm. The street is lined with a lot of different restaurants and bars on each side so the possibility of you not finding the right spot to eat is almost nonexistent.

FiDi is great at arts as well!

Not all people enjoy arts, but we can all agree that living in an area without any cultural institutions such as a gallery, museums, theaters, or concert halls is not fun at all.

Luckily, Financial District is the home of several great and cheap museums. I guarantee you that these museums will charm you with their collections that mainly showcase the history of the USA. For example, you should visit the Fraunces Tavern museum where you can see a wide range of collections belonging to the Colonial and Revolutionary eras in NYC.

If you would like to see some aboriginal artifacts then visiting The National Museum of the American Indian is a must. Last but not least, you can’t live in a financial neighborhood without having at least one museum that showcases the great history of American financial and economic evolution. That is why visiting the Museum of American Finance must be on your to-do list.

For those who like shopping and green spaces

The South Street Seaport is a historic area located in Manhattan, but for locals, this is more than a historic location. You will find a lot of green and open spaces here where you can enjoy a concert or some interesting outdoor program. This part of FiDi is a place where you can enjoy your free time shopping, dining, walking, or learning new things.

Who doesn’t like shopping? If you are a shopaholic then FiDi will suit you the best. You can find everything here, from high-end boutiques to affordable and interesting flea markets. Upscale department stores are everywhere in FiDi. You can find here the world’s top brands in one place, and also at the same time, you can find a lot of functional and affordable brands as well. You don’t need to be filthy rich to live and shop in Financial District, there’s something for every budget here.

I guess you all assume that the Financial District is a maze of big bulky concrete buildings, but you are wrong. This district has pockets of green space that are located near the East River where you can find a wide variety of outdoor activities. You can take a morning jog in one of the numerous parks, or just alongside the East River.

This place is perfect for spending long hot summer nights strolling or sipping coffee in one of the local coffee shops while watching the perfect NYC skyline. In addition to that incredible skyline and lush green parks, there you’ll also find an amazing waterfront with breathtaking views of the Hudson and East Rivers. Meaning, that pleasant temperatures, and relaxing breezes are something you should expect here.

The Cost Of Living In the Financial District

The Financial District isn’t without its flaws just like any other neighborhood in NYC. The major drawback is the cost of living, I always mention how NYC is expensive, and the cost of living in FiDi is a bit on the expensive side. But if you work in the economics and financial field there is no place to be than FiDi.

Everything work-related is close to you and you will be able to meet a lot of people from your branch that might have great opportunities for you. So those high prices are worth it. Just like I mentioned above the Financial District is more of a business and commercial hub and less of an entertainment spot you won’t find shops and restaurants that work long hours here, so if you are in urgent need of something you will need to drive to any other part of Manhattan.

Is Moving To Financial District A Good Idea?

If you enjoy a fast pace, shopping, and architecture, then moving to Financial District is just what you need to do. The beautiful combination of old and new architectural design is what adds to the charm of this amazing neighborhood. FiDi has something for everyone.

So if you’re interested in relocating to the Financial District, my kind advice is to look for an apartment near some of the parks so you’ll have a great view of the local greenery after a long working day. If you don’t believe my words, then you’ll have to experience all those things from the list on your own.

However, you don’t need to do everything on your own, let our professionals help you with the relocating process.
